Do you ever get to the store and think, “Shoot, I left my coupons on the counter again!”? Well, Hy-Vee is trying to make things a little bit easier for their customers and now offer digital coupons.
Before we get started, I want to mention this is a FREE service available to anyone who shops at Hy-Vee.
What are digital coupons? As stated on the Hy-Vee website: ‘Digital coupons are electronic coupons for manufacturers’ products that are found online. They are the same as paper coupons, only without the paper. Shoppers select the coupons they’re interested in, save them to a loyalty card and redeem them at checkout.’
The nice thing about these coupons is that all you need is a fuel saver card. You log onto their website with your card and then are able to load the coupons onto the card. You go to the store, shop for your items and when at the register, they will swipe your card and you will automatically see the discounts applied.
Another great thing, did you accidentally forget your card at home but had coupons loaded onto it? No problem. The cashier will allow you to type in the phone number connected to the card and the coupons will still be able to be taken off your basket purchase.
Also, once you choose to load the coupons to your card, they’re automatically ready to be used the moment you hit load, no waiting needed.
I did speak with a customer service representative this morning though to ask some questions that were not answered by their site. 1. If you use a digital coupon, you can only use it one time on one product. For example, there is a $1/1 Del Monte Fruit Squeezers 4ct package. You may click the load it to my card button, but once the coupon has been loaded, it turns gray and cannot be used again. This is a downfall because if there’s a good deal on a product, such as this, anyone is most likely going to want to purchase more than one of the product. That’s where those clipped coupons come in handy.
While speaking with the customer service rep, I also asked her, “If I had loaded a coupon for a product and then found that product on clearance but noticed the register didn’t take the coupon off my total, what would I do?” I was informed that if there is an issue with any of the coupons not going through at the register when you are sure that you purchased the qualifying items, simply go up to customer service and they will help you resolve the issue.
Just to have, here is the link to the Hy-Vee coupon policy. My mind thought with any store policy is that it’s always nice to have a copy on hand because you never know when you’ll run into issues. Besides having it on hand though, you should be aware of what the policy actually is. It’s better to be sure than sorry.
